President James Lorenzana, and Aboitiz Foundation Trustee Jose Emmanuel Hilado formalized a landmark partnership to scale up AuroraPH in last-mile schools

Manila, Philippines (August 28, 2025) — Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. the corporate social
responsibility arm of Aboitiz Group, the Philippines’ first techglomerate, has signed a
Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Okada Foundation, Inc. (OFI) to advance
inclusive education in the Philippines’ most underserved communities by scaling up
AuroraPH, a flagship program that delivers renewable energy, internet connectivity, and digital learning tools to last-mile schools in the Philippines.

Backed by an initial 10 million grant from the Okada Foundation, Inc., Aboitiz Foundation
will expand AuroraPH to reach far-flung schools in Palawan, Zambales, Cebu, Siargao,
Iligan, Davao, Cotabato, and Surigao—areas where students and teachers continue to
persevere despite a lack of reliable electricity and connectivity.

Aboitiz Foundation President Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar said the collaboration with
Okada Foundation, Inc. demonstrates the impact that like-minded organizations can
achieve when united by a shared vision.

“This partnership reflects more than just financial support. It embodies a shared responsibility, a shared advocacy, and a shared dream: that no child in the Philippines should be left behind because of geography, lack of access, or lack of resources,” she said

Okada Foundation, Inc. President James Lorenzana underscored the importance of the
partnership with Aboitiz Foundation in breaking down barriers faced by children in
marginalized communities.

“We know that this project will create a lasting impact. We are lighting up classrooms,
supporting teachers and giving children the chance to learn with confidence and growth. In doing so, we leave behind a legacy that will benefit generations to come,” he said.

Launched in 2024 with 11 pilot schools, AuroraPH bridges the educational gap by
providing last-mile public schools with renewable energy, satellite internet, and digital
devices. The initiative has already reached over 2,500 students and teachers.

Building on this initial success, AuroraPH aims to expand significantly, targeting 100
schools by 2025. The long-term goal is to reach a total of 300 schools nationwide, which
would cover nearly 20% of the country’s unenergized schools.

With the support of Okada Foundation, Inc. AuroraPH takes a bold step forward in
shaping a brighter and more equitable future—one province, one community, and one
school at a time.
